July 4, 2023 – submitted by Troop 271 Scoutmaster Warren Peck
North Shore District Troops 271 and 219 participated in the City of Cedar Park’s Fourth of July Celebration in Milburn Park.  Scouts and their families set up a vendor booth and sold hamburgers, watermelon, and cold water to the thousands of people who attended the event.  Working with the Parks Department, Troop 271 Scoutmaster Warren Peck applied for the two troops to be able to sell food at the festival as a fundraiser.  Working tirelessly from setting up at 1pm to breaking down at 11pm, the scouts and families cooked and sold almost 300 hamburgers as well as hundreds of slices of watermelon and hundreds of bottles of water.  Together the troops sold over $3700 in food, and almost $2700 of that amount went directly to the troops.  This was the second year that Troop 271 participated in this event, and the first time having sister troop 219 work with them.  Together the two troops far exceeded their fundraising goals, and had a great time doing it!
