In February, Troop 161 got into the tradition of visiting Boulders Sport Climbing Center in Harker Heights for their monthly event. Rather than camping, the troop voted for a lock-in instead because they thought it would be cold. This was a TON of fun!

From 10 pm to 6 am, we had the place to ourselves. The staff was great, and they allowed us a safe space to try out our climbing skills. The older Scouts and their adult leaders were able to learn belay skills to help the other Scouts tackle some of the most intense climbing walls.

Boulders allowed us to bring in our own outside food, so we hit up McDonalds down the road for some delicious midnight nuggets and fry’s…. A huge hit! We enjoyed board games and climbing all night long.

Around 3 am we fell asleep then around 5-6 we woke up and hit the road back home. We all made it back to our beds around 7 am so we could get more sleep. It was a ton of fun and I think you should try it too!
