National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) (for Youth)

Get your new youth leaders to summer or winter NYLT! Both of our summer courses and our one winter course of NYLT (National Youth Leader Training) are open for registration. This six-day, five-night course gives Scouts BSA, Sea Scouts, Venturers and Explorers methods, skills, and experiences to become better leaders in their unit. The course centers around the concepts of what a leader must be, what they must know, and what they must do – with a clear focus on how to accomplish all this. For more information and to register, visit this page of our website.

Co-sponsored by Capitol Area and Longhorn Councils, this year’s planned programming includes mountain biking, paddle boarding, rappelling, fly fishing, shooting sports, snorkeling, caving, and so much more! Powder horn is five full days over two weekends, September 9-11 and September 23-25, and it’s held at Camp Tahuaya, near Belton. Both adults and youth ages 14 and over are eligible to attend. Re-energize or re-start your unit with a wealth of new outdoor adventure ideas and resources – it’s “fun with a purpose!”
