Get ready for some spring cleaning; the 2024 Jackalope Egg Hunt for Conservation is coming this March. Compete with scouts from across the council to collect the most ‘Jackalope Eggs’ (Golf Balls) that have been hit off of the UT Golf Course into critical wildlife habitat in the Balcones Canyon Preserve.

Scouts will compete on a unit-wide basis, with the unit or each type (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venture Crews, Sea Scout Ships, and Explorer Posts) with the most pounds of ‘Jackalope Eggs’ per scout taking home a custom trophy. This means if only two scouts can come from your unit, they will have the same chance to win as a unit that brings thirty scouts.

The Challenge will have two areas for hunting, a Cub Zone, and an Adventure Zone for Older Scouts. Units will need to arrive in time on March 2nd to attend the 8:30am safety briefing and check-in. Scouts will have three hours to hunt and can turn in Jackalope Eggs for weighing throughout the morning. A final tally will be made and winners crowned after the end of the hunt at 12:30pm.

Bring activity uniform (troop t-shirt), hiking boots, water bottles, and snacks. If you are interested in signing up, please contact me at justin.brundin@gmail.com or 928-261-0261. There is an attached flyer that you can print and share on social media. Please invite your friends from around the council to come compete. This is an awesome project to help do important conservation work and act as good stewards of the land while having fun. Join us!
