North Shore Scouts young and old; all leaders and parents,
Thanks to all of you for continuing to keep Scouting in the lives of young people in our district; special thanks to the dedication of leaders and other volunteers that run excellent programs in difficult circumstances.
No one joined Scouting to be on virtual meetings; spring weather approaches, now is the perfect time for dens and packs, patrols and troops, and crews and ships that have not been meeting in person to “recharge” their programs and safely get back to what we love best about Scouting. Lets use this time to reactivate and rebuild our membership. We still need to be vigil in following Covid-19 guidelines especially with wearing masks and socially distancing to allow parents and scouts to be comfortable for more in-person activities.
Re-engaging our community and revitalizing Scouting will be no easy task. If you have ideas for how to build a bigger and better program for our kids, let me or another of the Key 3 know. My email is chair@northshoredistrict.org or you can reach out to Kevin Clark or our communications team.
We are starting our outdoor adventure apparently with a bang, learning about explosions, fires, and combustion. It is our annual North Shore Spring Camporee this weekend, April 9th. A giant THANK YOU to all our members who have made this event possible, to David Nelson for coordinating and making the event happen, to our local OA chapter for hosting the event with assistance from Chris Bratton and Troop 171, to Kevin Clark for running the plethora of Covid Officer training sessions, to Michael Dial and Nicolas Rietsch for NCAP assistance, and to Joel Holst, Heather Spencer, Dr. Tim Urban, JT Devenport, PJ Brown.
I look forward to seeing you at Smillin V Scout Ranch. Lets get outside, just remember to take your sunblock!
Yours In Scouting,
Jeffrey Hynes
