29 Schools. 3 Nights. One Countdown to Liftoff.
Back in the spring we said Scout Week would be the biggest recruiting push North Shore has ever run. The launch window is here: liftoff is Monday, September 14, and Mission Control has cleared every system for go.
Every Leander ISD elementary school — all 29 of them — is on the schedule. Scout Talks hit lunchrooms district-wide starting Monday the 14th, then three straight nights of Join Scouts Night (JSN) bring families through the door:
- Tuesday, September 15
- Wednesday, September 16
- Thursday, September 17
The district recruiting flyer already went out district-wide through LISD’s Peachjar system, our facility agreements with LISD are signed, and Council has a marketing campaign, paid local ads, and a dedicated events page all pointing families toward their school’s night. The infrastructure is done. What’s left is people.
The Home Stretch
As of this week, 27 of our 29 schools have confirmed Scout Talk coverage — real progress from where we stood even a few days ago. That’s volunteers and Scouts saying yes to a quick lunchroom visit that puts a friendly, uniformed face in front of every family before their JSN.
A good example of how this comes together: Pack 170’s Hayley Becker went straight to Whitestone Elementary’s front office and worked out yard-sign placement and flyer timing directly with the school — no middleman needed. That’s exactly the model. If your unit has a relationship with your school, use it.
New This Year: Every New Scout Gets a T-Shirt
Every Scout who signs up during Scout Week this year earns a free t-shirt — a great incentive for families on the fence. They’ll pick it up at the Post-JSN Rally on September 19, which means the sign-in table at JSN matters more than ever: it’s where we capture the size. Every unit needs at least one person assigned to sign families in at their JSN. If your unit hasn’t named someone yet, this week is the time.
Save the Date: The Post-JSN Rally
Once JSN week wraps, every North Shore Pack and Troop is invited to celebrate together at a Post-JSN Rally on Saturday, September 19 at Champion Park in Cedar Park. Formation is around 9:30 AM, wrapping by 11:00–11:30 AM. Bring your unit flag — current Scouts in Class A, and every new recruit will get their Scout Week t-shirt to wear as their Class B.
The plan includes Bobcat-rank activities for every eligible Scout, plus free time on the playscape and at a dino dig pit. Staffing and RSVP details are still being finalized, so more to come — but get the date on your calendar now.

Every child in our community deserves the chance to find out what Scouting can do for them. The schools are scheduled, the materials are ready, and Council has our back. The last piece, like always, is a real person showing up to say hello.
