Cub Scouting is for the Summer too!

School might be out but Pack 170 is still doing many things. Pack 170 developed a Summer Passport provided to each cub at gradu-ossover in May.  It included June, July, and August Pack, District, and Council Events to participate in.  Our first Summer Pack event was Hike and Dino Bone Climb at Champion Park and Brushy Creek Parks.  Then we had a great swim event at Veterans Pool in Cedar Park.  Cub Scouts were able to participate in swim tests at that time and enjoy shade at one of the pavilions and just hang out and swim.  This year 4 cub scouts from Pack 170 participated in Overnight Adventure Camp at Lost Pines Scout Reserve.  There were 3 days and nights of action packed fun.  There wasn’t a burn ban and a memorable campfire was performed on the last night of camp.  These 4 cubs were able to complete over 20 adventures during this camp.  There are 2 more events scheduled this summer to help keep the community of Pack 170 in fellowship during the much needed Summer break.

Bittersweet Ceremonies

May 26 was an exciting day for Pack 170.  25 Cub Scouts achieved their rank when they “crossed over” in gradu-ossover.  This celebration of passing the baton of leadership to Lacy Putnam as the new Cubmaster for Pack 170.  She was presented Texas and US flags that had both been flown over their respective capitals to be used during her tenure as Cubmaster.  Rob Mathewson accepted the flags that were initially presented to him when he took over Cubmaster of the Pack.  This marks a close to a strong leader and he will be sorely missed but also marks a new beginning for Lacy to provide leadership and many years of experience to Pack 170 in the coming years.  It was a memorable day which all ended in cake!
