Scouting in 2021 continues to be of tremendous value to all of the youth who join our program.  This year our Council Membership Team has put together a Membership Toolbox of flyers, stickers, and detailed instructions to help guide the recruiting process for all units, especially our Cub Scout Packs.
New information our Council has gained that can be shared across all units and families comes from a recent survey (Q1-2021) from Bloom Communications.  Local families in Austin were asked what were the top draws of the Scouting Program.  They found that Boy Scouts of America is most associated with:
    1) Leadership development,
    2) Teamwork
    3) Adventure, and
    4) Fun
Bloom also learned that 2/3 of the families had a favorable opinion of the Boy Scouts of America and the main reason their families did not join Scouting was because they were not asked to join or did not know enough of the details on how to join.
The largest single factor that drives a family’s decision to join Scouting (58%) is the child’s interest.  The biggest draw to Scouting continues to be Outdoor Adventure and Physical Activity.
Our biggest obstacle continues to be reaching our audience and the Membership Tool Box will help with the tips and supplies needed to help get the message to your target audience.
