Eagle Advancement News
After a flurry of Eagle Scout Boards of Review in January, things have slowed down considerably (none in February), however lots of project proposals have been approved so we anticipate more Eagle Boards of Review soon
The Advancement Committee gets a lot of requests for Eagle Scout Project Proposal Approvals and we wanted to share with you tips to expedite the process.
1. The request needs to come from the Eagle Scout themselves, not Mom, Dad, or Unit Leaders.
2. To facilitate and speed up the process attach the following documents in the email to advancement@northshoredistrict.org (Be sure to copy a parent or unit leader on the email for Youth Protection.)
A. The proposal portion of the Eagle Scout Workbook, with all fields filled out, including all signatures except the Council/District approval.
B. The fundraising application (required for fundraising over $500.00) filled out with all signatures except Council/District approval.
3. The Advancement Committee will reply within 48 hours (usually much faster) with available dates and times for a Zoom meeting to go over the paperwork and make suggestions to clarify and finish up the document. A parent or guardian needs to be present for Youth Protection during the Zoom meeting.
4. The Zoom meetings usually take less than 30 minutes and unless there are problems with the project or write-up, the approval is given, and the signed paperwork is emailed back to the scout and work can begin on the project.
