We are thrilled to announce a brand-new honor debuting at this year’s North Shore District Awards Ceremony: The Orion Award.
Just like the famous constellation, where Orion’s belt serves as a central anchor, this award is designed to recognize those unique Scouts who “hold the unit together.” These are the youth who are absolute assets to their units, constantly working behind the scenes for the good of all members. Simply put, your unit wouldn’t be nearly as successful without them.
Award Breakdown: Each unit may nominate between 1 to 5 Scouts for the Orion Award, depending on the size of your unit.

⏳ Critical Deadlines
Please mark your calendars so your deserving Scouts and Scouters don’t miss out:
- July 24th: Deadline for the District Award of Merit
- July 31st: Deadline for the Orion Award and all other District awards
⚠️ Important Next Steps for Nominators
If you submit a nomination, please complete these two quick steps right away:
- Notify Leadership: Let your Committee Chair and Unit Leader (Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor, etc.) know as soon as you submit the form. (Unless you have nominated one of them and want it to be a surprise.)
- District Leaders will Coordinate with Unit Key 3: Your Unit Key 3 will work to ensure that any selected Scouts or Scouters are notified of their honor and receive a personal invitation to attend the ceremony.
