University of Scouting delivers a unique training curiculum not offered in other BSA courses to new and experienced leaders with an all-volunteer staff. We invite you to join our returning staff members to help us deliver on the promise of Scouting in and around the Capitol Area Council.

College Roles

Scouts BSA Co-Dean

We need 2 volunteers who will share the work, fun, and rewards as co-deans of the Scouts BSA track. The deans are responsible for selecting courses for the Scouts BSA track at University of Scouting 2024 and for recruiting trainers to present the topics. You will be on site on the day of UoS working with your staff to deliver the best possible experience for the attendees.

Gen Studies Co-Dean

We need 1 volunteer who will share the work, fun, and rewards as co-dean of the General Studies track with Dr. Tim Urban. The deans are responsible for selecting courses for the GS track at UoS 2024 and for recruiting staff to present the topics. You will be on site on the day of UoS working with your staff to deliver the best possible experience for the attendees.

Staff Trainer

We need volunteers who are passionate about Scouting and would like to share that passion with Scouters in and around the Capitol Area Council. You will work with your track dean to select a topic, then prepare and deliver a fun and engaging presentation. Barring scheduling conflicts, you may have more than one topic to deliver and possibly in more than one track.

University Roles

Vice Chancellor for Virtual Colleges

We need 1 volunteer who will work directly with the Chancellor of the 2024 University of Scouting and will oversee all aspects of the virtual offering. You will share staff with the in-person UoS and recruit any additional staff unique to virtual training.

Registrar

We need 1 volunteer who will process registration requests, handle check-ins on the day of the event, and manage attendee records for University of Scouting 2024. The registrar will recruit any additional staff that may needed to successfully complete these duties.

Facilities Coordinator

We need 1 volunteer who will maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment for the University of Scouting staff and attendees by working directly with the facilities provider. The Facilities Coordinator may recruit additional staff as needed to succesfully execute these duties.
