Most of you know that February is Scoutings birthday month, but you may not know exactly how many Scouting birthdays there are in February.

  • February 22, 1857 – Lord Robert Baden-Powell’s birthday.
  • February 22, 1889 – Olave Baden-Powell’s (wife of  B-P) birthday.
  • February 8, 1910 – Boy Scouts of America and what is now called Scouts BSA are founded.
  • February 10, 1930 – Cub Scouting is officially founded, although unofficial “Cubbing” programs started as early as 1911.
  • February 9, 1998 – Venturing split off from Exploring into the newest BSA program.
  • February 10, 2016 – Sea Scouting became a separate BSA program, though it has existed in BSA in one form or another since 1912.

It is also in February of each year that the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives pass a resolution supporting the Boy Scouts of America. We like February in the BSA.
