Doug Cooper became the North Shore District temporary District Executive in addition to his other duties at the Capitol Area Council during the height of the Pandemic. Doug had decades of experience already and he applied it immediately to help meet the challenges that the North Shore District was facing.

Doug was with the Capitol Area Council for over 16 years, most recently as Development Director and, of course, our temporary District Executive. His broad knowledge and experience, as well as his sharp wit and unique brand of humor will be sorely missed. We wish him all the best.

During his tenure with the North Shore District, Doug gave extra focus to our declining membership. He started the “On the North Shore” podcast, talking with people in the know about the topics important to our district, with more than one episode on recruiting. He encouraged creative recruiting events like Scouts BSA troops conducting their own JSNs at Middle Schools and our big Rocket Recruiting event and Bobcat Day. Doug was a member of the larger North Shore District team that made these things happen and now, for the first time in years, we are experiencing growth in youth membership.
