The North Shore District Membership Team is hosting a spring recruitment event on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 in Blockhouse Creek starting at 9:00 am. (Block House Creek Pavilion: 2600 S. Block House Creek Dr. Leander, TX 78641) This event is designed for Troops and Cub Scout Packs to recruit new Scouts for their unit.

The idea is simple…

  • Scouts BSA youth will have an opportunity to complete the First Class requirement 4A (Using a map and compass, complete an orienteering course that covers at least one mile…) AND the First Class requirement 10 (Tell someone who is eligible to join Scouts BSA, or an inactive Scout, about your Scouting activities. Invite this person to an outing…) Here is your opportunity to knock out BOTH. Invite a friend and complete this orienteering course together!
  • Cub Scout youth will have the opportunity to earn the Recruiter patch by inviting a friend to come with them to complete a Cub level orienteering course. There also may be opportunities for the youth to complete some den level requirements as well as having a fun time learning how to use a compass.

Our ask…

  • Please don’t just send your active Scouts to this event… we are asking that active youth BRING-A-FRIEND! This is a recruiting event not just a district event to knock out your personal requirements.
  • Help us spread the word! Please share this event on your social media platforms especially NextDoor. Everyone has different neighborhoods that they can broadcast to so we would really appreciate your help by advertising this event using the attached flyer.
  • If you have a Scouts BSA youth looking to earn some service hours, we will have an opportunity for them. There are trails to clean during this adventure and young visitors that will need guidance on how to use a compass and complete the challenge. If you are interested in joining our event as a community service activity, please contact the membership team so we can get them a job assigned. Email membership@northshoredistrict.org

With your help to advertise encourage participation… this can be a stellar opportunity to get out, have some fun, recruit some new friends, and celebrate our local parks on this Earth Day.
