Submitted by Crew 158 VP of Program Sarah Otto:

On Wednesday April 27, North Shore’s own Venture Crew 158 visited the Long Center to watch Austin Opera House’s performance of Fidelio, by Beethoven. The program they used is called Access Opera, through which educational groups can get free tickets for the final dress rehearsal of various operas. The idea was pitched at a normal bi-weekly meeting by a member whose school participated in the program. At first, the idea was met with apprehension but slowly gained momentum. In the end, the majority of the crew participated. The crew was pleasantly surprised at how much they enjoyed it. One member said, “It was amazing, I would recommend it to all crews, patrols, troops, ships and everyone.”

Recruitment note: Come visit Crew 158! Meetings are every other Wedneday at Good News UMC at 7:30 PM. They camp and hike and do high adventure…and occasionally something out of the ordinary. BSA Crews are co-ed, wear the cool green uniform, and are for all youth 14-20.
