Happy New Year North Shore District!

Let’s make 2023 the Year of Membership. We need to grow our program – new scouts, new families, new units, new schools and charters.

To our scouts and families: 2023 will be another great year of family scouting.  Family scouting is a great way for families to bond and spend time together while also pursuing the Aims of Scouting: citizenship training, personal fitness, character formation, and leadership development. Tell all your friends about the great experiences you are having! We want to share the joys and benefits of scouting with more families.

To our unit leaders: Every one of you are heroes to me. You have held scouting together in our area during trying times. Good job! I’m pleased to mention that at the end of 2022, our district finished the year with more scouts than we began. We’ve turned the corner. I see nothing but growth from here on out. If you are feeling the pinch – wearing too many hats –  it’s because we need leaders. Look around you: every adult still hanging with you is a hero. Invite them, include them, delegate to them, and let go of things that you had to white-knuckle grip for 3 years. And keep recruiting. Those new families are also your relief. Use the EDGE method, and then trust they will get it done.

Recruitment is not an annual event, it is a continuous process. Anybody can join at any time. And training happens all the time too: our district has a Roundtable training on the second Thursday every month, and also this month council has University of Scouting on Jan 21.
Let’s do this!
