Units are invited to express their interest in a variety of upcoming service, civic, and recruitment opportunities, including Scouting for Food, the Austin Steam Train Holidays Polar Express, the Leander 5K Run, the Leander Christmas Parade, and the Old Town Christmas Festival. Units may also arrange opportunities for Scouts to attend local city council meetings in Cedar Park, Leander, or Lago Vista, providing a meaningful way to learn about civic engagement and our local communities.
The 2026 Community Ties Fall & Holiday Volunteer Unit Signup allows unit leaders to indicate which opportunities their unit would like to participate in and provide the information needed to help coordinate these activities. Some opportunities are still being finalized, so dates and details may be updated as information becomes available.
Whether your Scouts are collecting food for families in need, cheering on runners, helping at a community festival, participating in a holiday parade, or learning how their local government works, every act of service is an opportunity to put the Scout Oath and Law into action.
We encourage units to review the opportunities and sign up for those that are a good fit for their Scouts and families.
