ATTEND CAMP TOMAHAWK, WISCONSIN WITH TROOPS 271 & 219 THIS SUMMER
Troops 271 and 219 would like to attend Camp Tomahawk in WI again in June 2024. We did this trip in 2019 and it was an amazing experience! Here’s where you come in. For this trip to be financially feasible we rent a charter bus (deep Scout discount through our contact) and even then we need several people to attend to spread the transportation cost. So we are looking for a couple other units to partner up with for transportation. This is your opportunity to attend an amazing out of state camp that would otherwise be cost prohibitive due to transportation.
Units would only be sharing transportation and eating at the same places while traveling. Once at camp each unit runs their own program their own way. In 2019 we had 3 Troops in total go and it was fantastic, memories of a lifetime were made.
Want to know what all the camp has to offer? Check out their website and promotional video: https://www.
If your unit is interested please reach out to Allan Pape by the end of January, we need to make this decision and start making reservations ASAP (no later than January 31 please).
Thank you,
Allan Pape

The scouts of Troop 161 have found a great way to give back to the community through their service to the Brighter Days Food Pantry located at the Leander Church of Christ. In 2023, Troop 161 served hundreds of customers and earned a total 127 hours of community service as a troop.
Troop 161 has served at the food pantry the last Wednesday of every month since service opportunities resumed after Covid. Scouts serve an average of about two hours per shift. The work consists of pushing carts through the building to collect canned goods, fresh produce, baked goods, dairy products, frozen meat, and more. Carts are then taken into the parking lot for curbside pickup by customers. The pantry assists over 400 people per week.
This type of operation takes many hands. Troop 161’s commitment to the pantry remains strong but extra volunteers are needed to ensure that the Food Pantry can operate without worrying about having enough volunteers to regularly serve those in need. We are calling on local troops to assist in the cause. This is a great opportunity to serve those in need. The service can be performed by BSA Scouts of any age as well as adult volunteers.
The pantry is supported by local businesses as well as residents of Leander. If you would like to contribute to the pantry, donations can be brought to 300 Crystal Falls Parkway in Leander between the hours of 10AM to 3PM, Monday through Friday.
