A Scout is Thrifty: North Shore vacates its storage unit.
Running a scouting pack or troop takes scouts, volunteers, and sometimes lots of stuff. The district is no excpetion, and after years of day camps, camporees, and others events, it was time to clean house. (And to save the rental money for council). Our North Shore storage unit had collected many, many materials from past events. Added to that were items recently donated with the trailer. Thanks to a few volunteers – giving up yet another Saturday morning – the North Shore district now has an organized, free, and mobile storage facility.
We found some materials to give away – see the Virtual Swap Meet article – as well as items that could be borrowed by a unit (water rocket launchers, for example), and items like signs and safety equipment that every district event needs. The District could use a Quartermaster (QM) to keep track of all the materials therein. The QM duties would also include arranging some small trailer repairs that are needed. Contact district staff to inquire about the QM position.
