In Memoriam
The North Shore District would like to dedicate this page to remember those who made and impact on the scouts and scouters. While these scouters are no longer with us they are not forgotten. In the words of Scouting’s founder “Leave the world a little better than you found it.” – Lord Robert Baden Powell
In the summer of 2022, Jeffrey Hynes made the ultimate sacrifice to save the life of another while hiking in Iceland on July 24th, 2022. Jeffrey served as Scoutmaster of Troop 158, District Chairman for North Shore, and Round table Commissioner for North Shore. Jeffrey embodied the scout oath and law. While Jeffrey may have left, he showed us that a scout is brave… … and for all of us, this Scout is Remembered.
Walter was a lifelong scouter with more than 70 years in the program. He moved to North Shore in 2019 where he served as a unit commissioner. Although Walter’s time with us was short he made an impact in anyone he met. He always had a positive demeanor and showed everyone that a scout is friendly and kind. Walter passed away peacefully at home in Leander, Texas at the age of 83 on November 10, 2022.
