New All-Girl Troop Welcomes Young Women to Scouting America
Exciting news for local families! A new all-girl Scouting America troop is forming in the Block House Creek area, linked with the well-established Troop 171. This expansion brings new opportunities for young women to experience the adventure and character-building program that Scouting offers.
The new troop will share meeting space with Troop 171, which has been serving our community for over 35 years. Meetings are held Monday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Block House Creek Community Building, providing a convenient location for families in surrounding neighborhoods. Many Scouts will be able to walk or bike to meetings.
“We’re thrilled to expand Scouting opportunities for young women in our area,” says Dave Wood, Membership Chair for the North Shore District. “By linking with Troop 171, we’re building on a strong foundation of Scouting excellence while creating new possibilities for girls to develop leadership skills and enjoy outdoor adventures.”
The troop welcomes girls from 5th through 12th grade who are interested in camping, outdoor skills, leadership development, and community service. No prior Scouting experience is necessary – all skill levels are welcome!
