Another month has come and gone and the only constant seems to be change. We were hoping that Council would allow us to have a District In Person Event in November in place of our WEBELOS Woods/Fall Camporee but as of this writing we don’t have the go-ahead .
Never fear we are working on plans for an alternate plan and are keeping in close contact with our Council Risk Committee to make sure that when we are able to get together we do it in a safe manner.
I worry about the Cub Program side of scouting suffering so I wanted to share with you something that is happening at the Council Level and is working quite well for our Cubs.
Cub Family Outdoor Discovery Days
Cub World’s Program Ranger, Shea Mackin, has been successfully putting on activities at Camp Tom Wooten (The cub scout side of Lost Pines Scout Reservation. These fun four-hour blocks of time for families or even Packs to come out and do cub-scouty things have been a huge success. Activities include,* BB Guns, Sling Shots, Hay Rides, Panning for Gems, Crafts, Exploring the Fort, Compass Games, Sports, and more. Watch a short video to get an idea about the camp. Get details at the Cub Family Outdoor Discovery Days page here.
While this program is designed to support families, we had an entire Pack come out and have a full morning of activities, all following the COVID-19 regulations set forth by the Bastrop County Judge and the Council Risk Committee. I strongly encourage our Packs and families to check out these activities.
Again I look forward to the day when we can see each other and participate in some great activities.
Best regards and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
