Old Town Street Festival | Downtown Leander — June 7, 2025
The Old Town Street Festival continues to be a beloved tradition in Leander, showcasing live music, artisan vendors, a fun run, and food trucks for thousands of attendees. This year, Scouts were grateful for the opportunity in helping with booth support, sharing scouting information with the community throughout the day.
Juneteenth Block Party | Robin Bledsoe Park — June 14, 2025
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, the City of Leander hosted its annual Juneteenth Block Party at Robin Bledsoe Park. With the theme “Still We Rise: Strength, Spirit, and Solidarity,” the event brought together families to enjoy music, local food, games, art, and community togetherness in celebration of emancipation and unity. Scouts and Scouters from the North Shore District were honored to lend a hand. Volunteers helped distribute rally towels, supported vendor and event logistics, and connected with community members at the North Shore District booth. Their goal was simple: to contribute where needed and share the values of Scouting through service and teamwork.
Building Community, One Small Act at a Time: Through their participation, Scouts earned service hours and, more importantly, gained a deeper appreciation for civic engagement. These events also gave Scouts a chance to show the public what Scouting is all about—service, leadership, and community pride. For some, it sparked conversations with families interested in joining local units, helping grow the next generation of Scouts.
The North Shore District of Scouting America, thanks the City of Leander, the event organizers, for the chance to be part of these meaningful celebrations. We’re proud to play a small part in the bigger story of community connection.
