Jeffrey Hynes District Chairman
Welcome back!
Just over a year ago all of our worlds were turned upside down and transformed. It has impacted not just small groups of individuals but the entire world. Not only were each of us impacted in some way, our scouting community was also impacted. I would like to take this time to thank everyone reading this letter for your commitment to scouting. Thank you for the courage you demonstrated to keep your units engaged, for supporting their families and your communities. Thank you for your passion and belief in the program, giving hopes and purpose to many scouts in your units. Thank you.
The members of the Capital Area Council have also recognized the challenges our units are experiencing and have kicked off a large-scale membership campaign. They have recognized that to ensure the stability and future of the scouting program in Central Texas all the district and unit leaders must have the tools and means necessary to begin actively recruiting scouts and families to begin strengthening our membership. The council’s as well as the North Shore district’s message is loud and clear, membership is our most important goal at this time. This month’s newsletter contains details on how to access the materials you need to support membership drives for your unit.
In support of our membership goal I will need to request your assistance. Please reach out and have a conversation with the Key 3 District Leadership (https://nsdbsa.org/about/district-leaders/#key3). Let us know how your unit is doing, what your current goals are, and how we can support your membership needs. Personally, I want to discover and create opportunities for our Troops to interact with our Packs. I would like to talk to pack leaders on how our troops may support your meetings as well schedule quarterly Troop open house events for pack families and our community to discover and interact with our troops.
Real nature, real friendships, real excitement! It’s time to help families discover Scouting!
Yours in Scouting
Jeffrey Hynes
